I remember seeing the Killers open for Ambulance Ltd. who were opening for Stellastarr* at Alley Katz in Feb. 2004. Ridiculous how much acclaim that band has won - and how much more absurd looking they've become - in the interim.
hah. i don't even keep up with what comes to richmond. the love for the killers will die off shortly, i'm sure.
I have talked extensively with Rishi about trying to find them a better location. But he is right, everythig is booked up. Pitchfork does not like us, obviously. But pollstar had BJM at 930 club for awhile. Whatever, fuck 'em, we'll still sell out. Would love some national publicity though.

In other news, I just saw this show listing:

08-18 Hopewell / The High Dials
Washington, DC - Velvet Lounge

Both great bands. I will definitely be at that show!
Yes!! F**king awesome rock and roll! I'm not familiar with Hopewell but a High Dials show is cause for celebration. I'm just surprised they're playing the Velvet Lounge. Their last show there was packed and I'm sure more people will show up this time around. DC9 would have been a better choice.
A short update to this. I posted about this on the High Dials forum and Rishi replied. He said "Every other venue in town is booked for the 18th… sorry! I guess it'll be a very intimate show"

So it sounds like they tried. Ah, well…

So this means I can crash at your new house?

no, they didn't. the warehouse is open on the 18th. i would love to give both hopewell and THD a show there, but nobody contacted me. oh well.

Wow. Two shows in the area. Even better than I'd hoped! Now I'm hoping for a terrific opening band…

Yeah, but there were a bunch of other bands as well - Keane, Maximo Park, Louis XIV, Regina Spektor

That was a great show, one of the best I've seen in the last couple years. I knew from the Killers' set that they'd hit it big, though not as big as they have. Ambulance has continued to muddle along, which is appropriate because they're boring. And Stellastarr* is still en route to becoming a very popular band with a rabid fanbase and a long career.

Rumor has it they are going back to their original name and trying to branch out of the jam-bands that play there all the time. This idlewild show seems like they are going in the right direction.
Pollstar has The Helio Sequence as opening for the Kings of Leon/Secret Machines show. I'd read Shout Out Louds were opening for the tour, but hey, I'll take this instead :D

that makes me very happy! i can walk to that place (once the 'hood gets a little nicer) and i would love to see some shows there! Fletchers has gone downhill fast and Rams Head has mostly old timer bands. leaving us with just sonar downtown (unless you wanna drive to the Ottobar)

Only through July on the West Coast and into the midwest…

Cool..cause I might send some bands that way…and then you could have a B'more BY event. :)

They're playing Baltimore the night before at Sonar, so I assumed they were opening.
