Awesome.  Prince is one of the last "big" artists I need to see!
correct: you need to see him.  IMHO, he may be the best entertainer alive since the passing of james brown.

no cities announced yet, every extremity of mine is crossed in hopes of a DC date (or three).
and Toby Keith

Apparently Jeff Tweedy, Elvis Costello, Mavis Staples, and possibly Cat Stevens (?!) will be performing at the Daily Show/Colbert rally.

Ditto. In typical Prince fashion, this is ambiguous as hell right now. I'm a little concerned it'll just be a NYC residency. I'd make the trip, in all likelihood, but a DC show would make me oh so happy.
saw prince about five or six years ago.  he was awesome, but egoish.  like his new music . . . i bet he sucks shit now.
I think I would make a NYC trip for him.
you know . . . bernanke has the best beard in dc.

didn't the note say "announcing NY dates" to assume then these events are not a tour, but NY only shows?

Prince has always been a great live performer. Thats not going to change.. A few years ago he blew it out in the Super Bowl halftime show which was the best one I've seen.
Just stumbled upon this:
10/27; Circle Pit, Fabulous Diamonds, Winks & Teen Spirit at the Golden West!

Circle Pit (from Australia! Siltbreeze/ Sacred Bones…
http://www.myspace.com/circlepit)

Fabulous Diamonds (also from Australia! also on Siltbreeze…
http://www.myspace.com/fabulousdiamonds)

Winks (
http://www.myspace.com/winkstheband)

Teen Spirit (Fan Death Records)

This may have to be my first trip to Golden West. The Fabulous Diamonds show at Snailhook's a couple years ago was all sorts of great. Was also my last 611 show.

Golden West Cafe is a great venue…..love Hampden area too!
Another noteworthy Baltimore show:
11/9 Neon Blud at Hamsterdam (2937 Calvert St.) Guessing this is a house?
Aiyyo bitch… DMX… at norva… Nov 19th… ARFF ARRFFF
$500 says he doesn't show up.
Gary Numan sick & having to cancel shows:
Hello Everone,

Very sad to have to announce that the Gary Numan show in Atlanta this evening has had to be cancelled. This is the first time in 31 years I've had to cancel a show for a health problem. I caught some kind of infection a day or two before the tour, started having trouble swallowing, played the gig in Orlando last night but, by the time I got back on to the bus my voice had disappeared completely. Today I have taken more potions than breaths of air but nothing is working. I can't talk, no voice at all. Really, really sorry.

There is a slight possibility that we will be able to play tomorrow night but it's far from certain. We are also trying to work out if there is a way we can reroute the tour and come back through Atlanta in a few days time. All tickets for tonights show will remain valid for any rescheduled date, should we be able to make that happen.

We will use local radio to update everyone wherever possible, also news will come via Numind updates and most of all the NuWorld web site. (www.numan.co.uk)

I can't tell you how disappointed I am.

Gary.
first the volcano and now this. the powers that be must be trying to keep him out of the states this year. fingers crossed!
also, on the topic on canceling shows on wednesday oct 20th, it appears the sword's 930 gig is also canceled along with all other US dates. the drummer left the band.
