Springfield…where never-were-cool music fans go to die.
I have never been to Iota (been in the area less than two years) but I think I will checkout Dando on 1/26.
What's the deal with no advance ticket sales?
If I show up around 9, will I get in?

I'd recommend getting there early for him (even though I don't think he sold out Black Cat a few months ago – Iota is much smaller).

As for the no advance sales, it's pretty typical policy for a small club. To tell the truth, it's quite refreshing sometimes (though I understand it can be a pain for someone from out of town – you just need to get there early).
Go to Iota early and have a nice meal (light fare or full meal at reasonable prices.) Say "hi" to Steve and I bet you'll get squired into the "music hall" when you're ready. If not, move up to the bar on the restaurant side, order a drink, and you'll hear some fine music; some of the bar seats also give you a view of the stage.
Parking garage on Fillmore is open late - unlike the one over by the movie theater off Clarendon Blvd. which closes a couple entrances early, leaving you to wander all the F**K over the place trying to find your car.
Virginia is not so scarey…See you there!

Looks like the "other" Cartel is coming to 9:30 on 2/26; just an FYI if Fico/others would like to show up to throw things at them.
You can go as early as 7:00, pay, get stamped and leave. Then go browse vinyl at Orpheus, used CDs at CD Cellar, books at Barnes & Noble, iPods at the Apple Store, or go eat somewhere.
Also, you can skip the garage since there is usually plenty of free street parking within a couple of blocks.

Originally posted by This Is My Name:i would totally jump at the chance to DJ this show, i'd play the entire real Cartel EP before the band hit the stage… Fico and co ought to passout copies of the cd outside the show.

ugh the tour "cartel" is going is called the "SCREAMING IS FOR BABIES TOUR"… will each band be given pacifiers to shut them up?
also i wanted more reason to hurl stuff at "cartel" but am not about to hand my email address to them and aol music to hear their "rendition" of "Rocking Around The Christmas Tree"… i'm guessin' its rather stinky.

Originally posted by ggwâ?¢:It actually depends on the show. I've gone early before only to be turned away until the time doors open. But I do agree that there's plenty to do to kill time in Clarendon. And everything is very close, so you can keep checking back with Iota. As for parking, the garage on Highland is free and open late.

I'm almost 100% sure that we won't be seeing Neko Case with the New Pornos - have to settle for Carl's niece, Kathryn Calder. Not a bad singer, but she's no Neko.
These will be really special shows. My guess is $40 a pop at the least. But they will be fantastic.
Well that sucks.

Man that's going to be a busy week for shows.
This, then Clap Your Hands on the 8th and Queen Plus An-inferior-singer-who-will-nevertheless-not-prevent-me-from-having-fun.

Originally posted by You go, Judge Alito:I doubt it. Newman had made comments last year that the fall 2005 tour would likely be the last with the full lineup. I can't see Bejar coming along for the ride without Destroyer opening.

Count me in the group that will commit violent crimes to get tickets to both B&S/NPs extravaganzas.
Will there be a presale?
These two shows CYHSY will likely make this the best live music week of the year.
