Just Announced

yeah, their record company is completely shafting them over here - Leaders was delayed by 2 weeks and then stealth released this week but no marketing till Feb 06 - if you go to the V2 Elbow page, all it says is "no updates for this band" - pathetic
The real shame about that is that they miss the whole Christmas buying season. Almost like planned failure from the very start.

Their news page says they are playing Toronto on the 5th. Wouldn't it be wise to sprinkle a few other dates while they are across the pond? I'm tired of going to London to see them ;)

Yes!! Another band from the Arts and Crafts label. I've downloaded a few of their songs and they seem worthwhile checking out.

i saw them about 3 years ago and found them to be pretty boring.
One good reason to check out the American Analog Set show…from their website:

Is this the end of the American Analog Set?

No … probably not. We're still friends and we still like making music together, but we've all got other projects that we'd like to concentrate on for a while. Sean's book comes out in early 2006. Lee has been busy with Parts & Labour in Austin. Craig has his own music and more design work than he can do right now. Kenny is working on songs for a new project and also putting songs together for the next AmAnSet singles/unreleased compilation. Mark has a grip of cigarettes to smoke and FIFA 2006 just came out for PS2 so…

But this is the last tour? Will we ever see the American Analog Set again?

[shaking magic 8-ball] … It's possible. We may play again here and there, but this is the last time we will get INTO a van in August and get OUT of the van in December. This is the last full-on tour in support of an album. Coast to coast … Europe … Japan … etc… So you should get out to the rock show.

I fought tooth and nail to get this as a BY show at DC9, was even offering better money. Was this close. Makes me cry. I think if it wasn't there "last tour" we would have done it. Prolly still have to go see this one though.

indie hipster alert?!?!

you're just finding out about them? i much prefer their earlier stuff since that tends to be more on the droneier side, instead of their more recent understated poppy stuff. they really can't help but be boring live, because that's the nature of their music.

that being said, i'm quite relieved that there is a d.c. date, i was considering going to their pittsburgh show at the andy warhol museum next month, but now i don't have to.

I dunno…recently some TV show made a joke stating that unless you are a huge name you shouldn't release at holiday time. (Kosmo - ring any bells?)
Rhett Miller - Starr Hill - 12/15

LOLOL

And they will probably check for razors at the door and not because they could be used as weapons.
