Thanks. I actually do get the newsletter. Not sure how I missed that. Probably saw "Playstation presents" and just automatically skipped over it.

Yeah, it's a bit steep. Mos played 9:30 a few months ago and was pretty good. Saw Black Star at Coachella and they were awesome. Is Pharoahe ever coming out with another album?

I wonder why it's not actually billed as "Black Star". Anyone know if they'll mainly be playing solo stuff or Black Star stuff?

i think 40 is a lot, but for mos and kweli its worth it.

mos hollywood rep got the best of him.
I don't know about y'all, but I wouldn't hesitate to pay $40 for a Blackstar show. I can't front, I download shit all the time (my artists-don't-get-shit-from-record-sales theory), so I make it up to these cats by going to their shows. Besides, it should be worth it. Plus, the only time I've seen Pharoahe perform was at Howard, like 5 years back and it was a short set.
ive seen pharoahe twice in the past couple years. he headlined the dmc regionals here sometime last year or the year before. he did like a 4 song set and could not have looked more bored on stage. so i saw him again as he was opening for MOP when they came to ottobar last year and he pretty much blew (again). he had annoying back up r&b singers and half his set had crooning in it. he was about to go into an old organized konfusion song (stress) but said "fuck the past" and did that annoying faux-scott storch single "agent orange". i was pissed. almost would have ruined my night if MOP hadnt kilt it later on. so yea, phaorahe sucks live imo. black star are good live duo but ive always felt they were overrated as hell as far as their actual material goes. the early rawkus singles are the best. i saw them together some years ago and if you're a big fan of them you'll be way into their set. i'll be passing on this however.

Elbow are playing here on Thursday Nov 3.

Quite tempted to make the trip to New York for this.

Well, Mos has been on the verge of fallin off with the New Danger album; didn't do shit for me. But Kweli is always on point. Yes, the Beautiful Struggle didn't live up to Kweli standards, but it was still a good album. Hopefully them touring together means another Blackstar album with tight production and more lyrical competition between the two. I guess this show will be sort of a preview

I read about them playing in NY the other day with no other US shows. Pissed me off yet again!

That looks like a really nice place but can't help but wonder about the acoustics. Doesn't give me the impression of being ideal for sound but may be wrong.

Worse yet, Brennser, Guy is teeming up with I Am Kloot for IAK's UK tour.

I would just love to see Elbow and I Am Kloot play together in DC.

yeah, their record company is completely shafting them over here - Leaders was delayed by 2 weeks and then stealth released this week but no marketing till Feb 06 - if you go to the V2 Elbow page, all it says is "no updates for this band" - pathetic
