YES PLEASE

Friday night

Actually looking at their just announced shows ..like 10 and there is no Philly or DC…so Ottobar is for the whole region…it’s interesting that all the shows are Friday and Saturday… the your is basically five weekends

Maybe Bob is slowing down and doesn’t want to be on the road much…maybe some of them have day jobs… maybe it’s been like this for a while and I didn’t notice

That seems like too big of a venue for a one hit wonder like that. Are they doing socially distanced seating? I mean, GBV is more popular that the Black Crowes, right?
No the black Crowes reunion tour of arenas was announced two years ago..

A lot of people have questioned their ability to fill sheds but I bet Live Nation who is fronting the whole tour thinks they can make money

Remember they broke up for a long time

GBV is 500-1000 max in very select markets

There is no justice in rock and roll

it was selling abysmally back then, I thought the pandemic actually did them a favor and bailed them out… surprised they're moving foward again.

Is this the latest Yes spinoff?
I think Live Nation has a different approach to these shows than you or I might think

The sheds are there…depreciating every year.. it’s an asset they have to use as long as they can cover variable costs

If they get X people in there they know they can make money on the beer, food, etc

The number of people they need in the shed is not 30,000 or 20,000 or even 10,000

I bet with 5,000 they are good with the Crowes

The guarantee they offer the Crowes for tour is more than the Crowes would get for playing club shows - a nice lump sum for a summer tour- but it’s not like U2 money or something
^^good points^^

Kings of Leon @ MPP on 8/24

I saw Kings of Leon once at The Black Cat in October of 2004 (I remember because it was the night before my grandpa died).

Anyway, it was a pretty rockin' show. It's unfortunate they turned into arena rockers.
The real loser of course are Black Crowes fans…
so subtle but still brutal (well maybe not so subtle)

nope.  GBV is indie/underground/college and never cracked the top-100.  the BC had a few mainstream hits.

Yes, but nobody talks about the Black Crowes anymore. GBV on the other hand is probably almost as popular as Ween.
you've just identified the core of the problem.
They are definitely not popular… just a small rabid fan base…

Last show of theirs I saw at Black Cat they played like 59 songs opening with what I call “the Space Freely song”…. including a ton from their last three albums which all had come out within the previous year

It’s ok with me if others don’t enjoy them

I think it’s getting near the end but I love seeing them
