Just Announced

Lucinda Williams at Ram's Head Live on Sunday July 29. 9:30 club date forthcoming?
Highly doubtful, given she is playing Wolftrap the following night.

Actually, what Joe said.

Doubt it. Wolftrap date not enough for you?
She's playing July 22 there.

Whoa Nelly, was there urine in the oatmeal this morning? What's got you so riled up? Shitty raprock? Shitty raprock is what happened AFTER RATM, imitation may be a form of flattery but it's just as likely to be simply shitty. They may be faulted for inspiring a generation of also rans and horrible imitations but to call RATM shitty raprock is way too simplistic and I believe a little beneath you. RATM may not be everyone's cup of tea, but even as a naysayer there has to be part of you that acknowledges they're animated, bombastic, and extremely technically proficient with a semi-inspiring message to those inclined to be inspired. Now they developed somewhat of a knucklehead following but don't hold the band entirely responsible for that. Anyway whoa nelly moment has ended.
Co-sign. I got a killer ass headache (don't feel like typing) & I had a hunch you'd come to the rescue.

Tom Morello > Your favorite guitarist of the past 15 years

True story . . . .
Tom Morello, creative, yes. More talented than anyone else in the last 15 years? No.
Tom Morello is like a modern-day version of the Emperor's New Clothes. Sans his pedal rig, he's an average guitar player.
I heard one of his solo songs, and man was it bad.

Josh Homme, Jack White, AND Omar Rodriguez-Lopez?

No way.
Is this board being over-run by fratboys and kids still in high school (you be betty excluded) or something?

I'm a lot of things, a frat boy most def is not one of them. I'm a HUGE Queens fan, but Josh Homme??? Nah. At The Drive-In/Mars Volta are weel & good plus were/are great bands, but Omar Rodriguez-Lopez???? Mmmm … fuck no. Jack White, however, would make me at least reconsider my statement . . .

But don't take my opinion for it. Jimmy Page agrees with me. Wanna argue with him???? Thought not . . .

i saw one of his solo performances, and man was it GOOD. the man is intense. the nightwatchman set at coachella was one of my festival highlights.

i think RATM were (and based on coachella, still are) amazing. i can't agree with thedirector's "morello best guitarist" assertion (frusciante has him beat, among others), and as someone who plays the guitar i can't give him particularly high technical marks. he is however one of the most original guitarists of the past few decades, and damn effective.

there is no band that can do to a crowd what rage can. and i'm not just talking a hyped-up modern-day frat-boy mob. they were the opening band at lolla'93, and as an unknown band they tore the place up like no one else. i've been hooked ever since.

it's too bad that rage's reputation has been dragged down by their unwanted meathead following.

The Cribs are kind of like a UK Indie hot dog. There's a little Franz, some Monkeys, a Manic Street sheen and all of it wrapped up in a Libertines bun. But the songs are really catchy, and the band puts on a very lively, fun show.

If you think that Morello is even in the Top 50 of living rock guitarists right now, please get out a little and get educated. Go see Chris Duarte@Rams Head Tavern in early July and see if you even remember Tom's name by the time it's over.

I think the QOTSA/Rage discussion does deserve it's own thread now. ;)
I didn't understand the intitial mention of the show either. Although a slight criticism of Rage, I understood and agreed with the question: why post here – where the heck is Alpine anyway?
