Just Announced

tom morello was pretty good last year at jammin java. did anyone else go to that?
The new album is front heavy. I love the acoustic-y stuff at the beginning. Toward the end, some of it starts to become too safe and boring.

Also, the new album is FAR from boring. Its downright gorgeous.

new cd is killer by the way…

being 65 and bitter sounds awful
I gotta agree. Saying the Crowes are a poor imitation of Drive By Truckers is like saying Blink 182 is a poor imitation of Sum 41.
Listen to the first song on their new album, and tell me they're not ripping off DBT.

If this was at Merriweather, I'd go. No chance I'm heading to Nissan though.
Interesting that you chose to use "65"…had to go high with that insult, so as to not step on the toes of a typical Black Crows fan…overweight 50 year old male with a marijuana addiction…

I would go to this, three of my favorite bands. Except I refuse to see Journey until they bring Steve Perry back. They actually have some dude from their fan club singing for them now. Ridiculous.

I gotta agree. Saying the Crowes are a poor imitation of Drive By Truckers is like saying Blink 182 is a poor imitation of Sum 41.
Both bands are 'inspired' by the Stones, Faces, Skynard, Neil Young. There's nothing unique about DBT to rip off.
DCFC Fan Presale is today at 3 p.m. kthxbai.
I think Drive By Truckers are clearly also inspired by punk and have more of a modern/indie influence/spirit to their work. The Black Crowes are and always have been a retro hippie act, ala Lenny Kravitz. Except that one song, when it sounds like they are trying to be the Drive By Truckers.

And Cooley hates the Black Crowes and all their hippie shit.

please STFU
I'll be the first to admit that Chris Robinson can be pretty annoying.

But to sit there and say the Crowes are a "retro -hippie act" is pretty comical. Go listen to your flavor of the month indie rock band that offers nothing of substance and wont be remembered in 5 years. But take solace in the fact that whoever they are, you were listening to them before anybody else was…

As far as the Crowes go, they've released a couple clunkers, but "Southern Harmony & Musical Companion" and "Amorica" are two of the best rock and roll albums to come out in the last thirty years.
Deal with it.
You are a freak and a retardo! And seemingly the woner of one sorry ass music collection. :p
