I don't get it, is he playing Matchbox 20 songs? I could at least understand the mindset of people then…
Let's face it, that man is a talent. He could be playing Rhett Miller tunes, and he'd still sell the place out.

Yeah, that would be quite the cash cow, but he'd have no "critical buzz" unless Jack White annointed the project. Or that Ringenberg guy.

I know…! I'm not too surprised though…I think she was at Rams Head and her price was about the same. Shawn Colvin was there - 4 nights - $65 a pop - all sold out.
Now this would have been the show to attend@!

I'm so tired I feel like I'm going to throw up. Is that normal?

So here's what happened: yesterday morning, Scott and I got on a bus to New York City. We spent the day in the heat and humidity, wearing ourselves out by walking around, finding places with air conditioning, places with cold things to eat or drink. Then we went to the China Club to enjoy a night of music.

Not just any night of music. We were on the guest list for a benefit being hosted by just about my favorite person in the world (aside from Scott, of course, and maybe my folks)–Rob Thomas. He and Daryl Hall and Jewel and some kid named Rhett Miller(?) played to a small crowd at New York City's China Club. The benefit was for the Sidewalk Angels Foundation, which is helmed by Rob's wife Marisol, and which in turn was benefiting Pets Alive, a no-kill animal shelter.

It was a fantastic evening, really. Who knew Daryl Hall still has it after all these years? I was skeptical when I saw he was going to be there, but I loved Hall & Oates when I was growing up, and last night I discovered Hall is pretty good all on his own. Jewel has a great voice; too bad she's a little snippy. But I think that might be part of how she gets rid of her nerves. The kid who opened–I say "kid" but I have no idea how old he is; he looked young, like he should be a member of Hanson–was good too. If I heard right, he's the lead for Old 97s?

And of course Rob was great. Although. . . the new song he debuted was a tad sappy for my taste. And I'm not sold on the haircut. But he and Marisol are just the nicest people in the world, so success couldn't have landed on better shoulders really.

Scott and I hopped the 12:30 am bus back to Boston this morning. Got in a little after 4:00 am, was in bed by 5:00 and up again at 8:00. . . Guess I'm not a college kid anymore. I can't get away with the all-nighters. But this one was worth the pain! ~ZM

I thought the same for three doors down, and yet their new album was #1 on the billboard chart.
