Tuesday July 17 - DC 9

Scissors for Lefty
Voted best up-and-coming indie band by SF Weekly, the band has beensetting off radars in both the U.S. and U.K., inciting NME to boast: ambitious, sarcastic sophistopop - quirky, promising, and quite possibly awesome!"

im catching them in nyc (well jersey actually) with uncut and cant wait! great band to see.

and July 23 also at DC 9

Uncut
"The band's three writers have distinct, complementary styles, a la Sloan, Fugazi, or the Beatles (comparing methods here, not music). Worang tends to write his biggest hooks into the guitar parts, delivering lyrics in a reserved tone that borders on speech while the rhythm carries him. Goldberg's approach is just the opposite; he's the purest singer in the band, and there's a satisfying tension between his soft delivery and the thunderously loud music around him." - Pitchfork Media

They opened up for Smashing Pumpkins in Asheville. Acted/dressed a tad effiminate, but decent music.

What does that have to do with anything?

What does what have to do with anything? I stated that I'd seen the band and gave a short review.

I dunno about actually being gay, but they fit several homosexual stereotypes. If they would've just came out dressed like normal people and not strip off their shirts and skip around while playing songs, the music woulkd've spoken for itself fairly sufficiently instead of getting blurred behind their, uh, theatrics.
They're fun as shit. I really enjoy their live show.

the effiminate part i wasn't paying any attention to, but decent? that's giving them a bit too much credit.

Wow, a long way from only half capacity at Iota. Not braving Lisner; luckily I saw them several times before "Gray's Anatomy" fame.
