Just Announced

I just think we've all seen them many, many times in small venues (as someone else pointed out, 90% of IMP "special shows" feel like they're Foo Fighters or Thievery Corporation nowadays) and they haven't put out anything good in 15+ years. I don't need to rewatch this movie again.
Tried for 2 hours, didn't get tix to the club show. I've seen them over 20 times, including a couple at 9:30, a few at Anthem and even a few at Black Cat.  So I got nothing to cry about.  Woulda been fun, though.
I've never seen the Foo but would for the right price and location.
Comparing them to Thievery is ridiculous

Foos sell out arenas worldwide regularly while Thievery is lucky to sell 2000 tickets

They are arguably carrying the torch for mainstream rock

Of course they are not “hip”

The booking is not about the few people that have seen them at the club…
So the 6 letter word must've been 'THEFOO'. Or maybe '930FOO'.  8)
I mean there are acts I have never heard of virtually every night at 930! Go to those

This is meant to be a big blowout bash to REOPEN with the biggest ever local band (unless you count Starland Vocal Band….)

It’s meant to be a huge celebration party…

And with that I am done poopers

You are talking about a very select group that have…
Yeah, but that selective group overlaps mightily with the people on a venue's BBS forum in 2021. Like I do not think this community is an accurate cross-section of the DC population in general. Well in excess of 1% of us HAVE seen the Foos in a small venue. Most of us (on here) have seen them multiple times.

I'm not trying to crap on anyone who is excited about this or wants to go, but within the confines of people ON HERE, Foo Fighters in a 1500 person venue is not some momentous event. I've seen them at Black Cat, at 9:30 twice, at the National once, and at The Anthem NOT TO MENTION LARGER SCALE SHOWS. It's OK for me to go "meh" about this the same way its OK for someone else to go "oh, awesome."
I get that but come on….

It’s a little overdone really

I suppose there are Rolling Stones fans who were “Stones in a club? Pffft… we all seen it!”

There will be plenty of bookings up your alley but this isn’t it

This is the get some press, a write up on Pollstar, get a few people around the water cooler talking “hey concerts are really back! Did you hear?”, a blurb in the Post

It’s been tough for venues

I get it that we all look at everything through our own viewpoint but try come on try to see the big picture here…
hutch, you and jules disagree - it's ok.  you're both right.  hug it out and move on.
No it’s not Julian

Julian is cool
